Biological Science Technician (Fish and Wildlife)

For the GS-7:
You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 in the Federal service. OR one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as:
Fisheries and Wildlife Biology or Ecology); OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Examples of specialized experience are:
Assisted biologists in the collection, ordering, and analysis of biological and physical data in the aquatic environment; Collected samples In support of research, conservation, production, and/or management of fishes, or fishery resources; Performed laboratory analysis of sediment and water quality samples; Collected, organized and analyzed fish habitat data For the GS-8 you must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. OR two full years (36 semester/54 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education or master's degree if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as:
Fisheries and Wildlife Biology or Ecology). OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position (in excess of 18 semester/27 quarter hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Examples of specialized experience are:
Examples of specialized are:
Scheduled, organized, and executed project habitat improvement work; Prepared contracts and served as contracting officer's representative (COR) on implementation projects of the wildlife/fisheries program; Planned a wide variety of types of limited operational fishery projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
