Supervisory Forestry Technician (Helitack)

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experience include:
Oversaw helicopter service contract and enforced contract provisions and/or conducted training in the techniques of aviation, fire suppression, prescribed burning and fuels reduction methods and/or independently performed many technical specializations such as helicopter rappelling, long line, felling, saw repair or water handling used in fire suppression and prescribed burning and/or communicated critical information pertaining to incident objectives, situations and tactics to pilot(s), crews and dispatchers. OR Applicants must have one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as forestry, range management, agriculture). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. OR An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. For the GS-8 level:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level. Specialized experience include:
Planned and coordinated complex fire and aviation operations at a temporary or fixed base work location and/or determined helicopter load limits, takeoff and landing sites, and estimated time requirements and/or analyzed fire conditions and determined attack methods and resources required and/or conducted hands-on training pertaining to program and personnel needs related to fire and aviation. OR Applicants must have two full years (36 semester/54 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education or master's degree if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as forestry, range management, agriculture). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. OR An appropriate combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Selective Placement Factors Primary NWCG Core Requirement of Helicopter Manager, Single Resource (HMGB) -AND- Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4)? And Successful completion of the Secondary NWCG Core Requirements of Helibase Manager Trainee (HEBM(t)). A copy of the Incident Qualification and Certification System (IQCS) Master Record (or equivalent training document) A minimum 90 days experience performing on-the-line (Primary/Rigorous) wildland fire suppression duties as a member of an organized fire suppression crew or comparable unit that utilized knowledge of wildland fire suppression, containment or control techniques and practices under various conditions. This position participates in wildland firefighting activities. Based on the type of work performed, TAKING and PASSING the WCT at the ARDUOUS, MODERATE, or LIGHT level is a condition of employment.
